I know that this is probably no good for any of us, but I'm sure there'll be lots of us out there who know lads and lasses that may be interested in becoming a firefighter. If anyone knows somebody who is thinking of applying, tell them to get in touch with me and I'll try and give them some guidance on how and what to do. East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service is now recruiting for Firefighters. Becoming a Firefighter will provide you with a richly rewarding and varied role within the modern Fire Service and community of East Sussex. You will be trained to respond to incidents such as fires, road traffic collisions and animal rescues. Furthermore, you will be playing a key role in preventing these incidents through education in local communities and businesses. As an employer, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service is committed to diversity, recognising the very real benefits a diverse workforce brings to the organisation and the community at large. We are therefore keen to hear from people from all sections of the community we serve. Firefighters in East Sussex are justifiably proud of their successes in making East Sussex a safer place to live and work. This could be your opportunity to join us and make a real difference. Starting salary will be £20,896 (pay award pending), rising to £21,766 on successful completion of the 16 week training course and to £27,851 once fully competent. Please call 01323 462348 to request an information and application pack. The closing date for all applications is 12 Noon on 1st September 2009.
